INFLUENCE of SOCIAL MEDIA

SOCIAL MEDIA & INFLUENCERS.

I am not a big social media sort, I will look at a few my favourite instagram or blogs  for the great photos or interesting places , and the looks. But it really is not a big influence on my style picks.

Recently I read an article study about how social media is having a negative influence on young girls  7  or 8 year olds that are worrying about getting fat and dieting.  My heart broke reading that.

Why are small girls that age really looking at so much social media ? Why is it someone that young is worrying about things like dieting? Young girls confidence is important  and to imagine that its starting to effect someone so young, it really is a big problem.  Someone so young does not have the knowledge or understanding of social media effects on them.

When I was a kid  of course there was no social media, girls would play together, skipping or playing outside sports. Later in teen years it was  the fashion magazines to look at for ideas only. I am sure if  I had a younger sister I would be talking to her about the problem of media on someone so young.
Parents and educators need to help young girls to understand the issues of social media and to work at building confidence and reassure girls their size or shape is not what matters as much as being healthy and confident!

Confidence starts at a young age, with being told your great as you are.  If there is a problem with weight then more important is getting involved in an activity that is fun and makes one feel good.

Swimming or dancing, tennis or skating, any sports that is fun is what builds confidence and healthy bodies.

So if you have kids or sisters that are worrying about their size, tell them-   You are beautiful, and no one can take that away from you. A beautiful soul inside and out, that is smart and funny is more important.
